Aji Pa’ti is the sonic collision of ancient and modern, folklore and tropical, Latin America and Europe. It is the bridge between tradition and fusion. The secret of Aji Pa’ti’s inimitable style lies in the interplay between charango, guitar and ukulele and the contagious driving rhythm section of timbales, bass and congas. Indira Roman’s voice effortlessly soars over the classic Latin American polyrhythms, creating one of the most exciting bands to emerge out of the UK in recent years. Hailing from Cuba, Colombia, Jamaica, Australia and Britain, Aji Pa’ti are a truly international band whose original material has ignited many dance floors across the UK. This is the new tropical folk sound!

Fri 17th July - Troy Ellis & The Hail Jamaica Band

Son of the legendary Alton Ellis O.D. "King of Rocksteady", Troy is an inspiring band leader in his own right, mixing dance, toasting vocals and a burning desire to party like his audience. Naturally the son has stayed faithful to his father's versions, recreating the crooning harmonies, snappy rhythms and smooth brass thanks to the Hail Jamaica Band, a well-chosen group of seasoned players from Bristol's reggae scene who will recreate the authentic Kingston Jamaica reggae experience!

Emma Harris Soul Sessions come to you with funky guitar licks from, mean drum grooves and soulful horns and Anders Olinder on Keys, who also holds down the bass lines with a mean left hand. The band hosts some of the Bristol's top talents as guests musicians. Emma's vocals are deeply soulful, heartfelt and dynamic. Her band performs Original Nu-Soul, Funk and reworked 80's and 90's classics. Emma has recorded with Pee Wee Ellis, sung with MOBO nominee Natalie Williams, Won the Jazz Vocalist Award with Pure Solo in 2012. Come and have a boogie!

Batch Gueye brings the compelling music and dance of Senegal to the UK with an new electric and groove-based band from the Bristol area. The musical mix is a blend of Senegalese M’balax with persuasive rhythms of Central Africa and even further afield. Batch's sincerity as a singer is equal to the energy he brings as a dancer, and gifted with a clear and powerful voice he seeks to reach a wider audience with his message of compassion and tolerance.

Based in Bristol UK and Marseille France, Ilu Axé are one of Europe’s premier Blocos Afros (Afro-Brazilian street / carnival drumming groups). Their music and moves hail from Brazil’s original capital city, the magical and very special Salvador da Bahia, the birthplace of Samba. They mix the rhythms, dance and songs of Samba-Reggae, Samba de Roda (the original Samba found around Salvador), Afoxé, the African / Brazilian religious drumming, dance and songs of Candomblé and their own compositions, arrangements and choreography. This is funky North-East Brazilian style carnival music and dance!
