A unique combination of musicians from Ghana, Senegal, Dominica, Germany, and Northern and Southern Ireland. Each musician contributes his individual sound and style - Reggae, Calypso, Blues and Soca. Baraka is edgy, experimental and innovative without losing sight of the fact that entertainment is the key!

Fri 26th Sept – Aji Pa'ti

Aji Pa'ti is the sonic collision of ancient and modern, folklore and tropical, Latin American and Europe. It is the bridge between tradition and fusion. The secret of Aji Pa'ti inimitable style lies in the interplay between charango, guitar and ukelele and the contagious driving rhythm section of timbales, bass and congas. Indira Roman's voice effortlessly soars over the classic Latin American polyrhythms, creating one of the most exciting bands to emerge out of the UK in recent years. Hailing from Cuba, Colombia, Jamaica, Australia and Britain., Aji Pa'ti are a truly international band whose original material has ignited many dance floors across the UK. This is the new tropical folk sound.

Mizizi ('roots' in Swahili); is a UK-based ten piece roots reggae partying powerhouse featuring several male and female vocalists along with horn section, keyboards, guitars, bass, drums and frequent guests. They are a 'dance-floor-filling' 'no-short-cuts' reggae.

Combining funk and soul in an impressive form, the Soul Strutters will dig up some groovy classics from the past, playing hits from Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Gil Scot-Heron and many more. Guaranteed to get your dancing shoes on. Including some of Bristol's finest with Eric Okafo, Jack Baldus, Daniel Barry and Barney Sage.

Keeping the festival spirit alive, Bristol's sexiest samba reggae band are here, combining high energy Barzilian drum with choreographed dance. The closest you can get to the Rio Carnival and one of Plantation's best loved bands!

Fri 10th Oct – Soul Session with Emma Harris

Emma Harris Soul Sessions come to you with funky guitar licks from, mean drum grooves and soulful horns and Anders Olinder on Keys, who also holds down the bass lines with a mean left hand. The band hosts some of Bristol's top talents as guest musicians. Emma's vocals are deeply soulful, heartfelt and dynamic. Her band performs Original Nu-Soul, Funk and reworked 80's and 90's classics. Come and have a boogie!

Fri 17th Oct – Troy Ellis & The Hall Jamaica Reggae Band

Troy Ellis - son of the legendary rocksteady reggae artist, Alton Ellis OD, started out as a child street performer in Born in Trench Town, Kingston, Jamaica. Having performed at Colston Hall and across the world, Troy and the band now perform many reworks of classic rustic reggae tunes that are guaranteed to get you dancing.

...the sweet-spot where great things meet: where tradition meets with originality and retro nostalgia gets down and dirty with musical innovation. Originally conceived as a cross between vocal jazz and blue-eyed soul, the Bristol six-piece is all that and more, gracefully merginging genres and styles to create music that is as unique as it is engaging and accessible.
